World Literature as a Special Issue

Abstract In India, as in other parts of the world, readers’ exposure to world and literatures largely took place through pages magazines, via translations, reviews, snippets information, survey articles, so on. The 1950s 1970s were golden age magazine publishing Hindi. Several Hindi magazines devoted short story not only showcased new literary talent but also invested much effort translating writings from foreign Indian languages. Competing Cold War efforts promote their rival spheres influence produced a profusion translations book form, on which enterprising editors freely drew. This essay focuses spectacular special issues curated by Kamleshwar for two explore nexus between story, magazine, world.
